Carly Rae Jepsen Says Cyndi Lauper Inspired Her '80s-Style New Album

Matthew WelchCarly Rae Jepsen previously revealed her new album would be heavily influenced by ‘80s pop music, but now she’s explaining why.She tells MTV that she was first inspired to go full throwback after seeing ‘80s pop queen Cyndi Lauper at a festival in Japan last summer. She said witnessing Cyndi in action convinced her that she had to make an album filled with ‘80s-tinged hits because of their “timeless” quality.“I was listening to the songs and something kind of hit me just like this is when pop was at its finest,” she explains to MTV. “It’s like the purest, emotional ‘80s and I want to make an album that hints at that because the songs are so timeless. I would put out ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ today and I wouldn’t change a bloody thing, so I think that’s where it all began for me where I was like, ‘All right, that’s what I’m gonna do.’”Carly, who released her new single “I Really Like You” this week, says she’s still in the process of narrowing down which songs will make the final track list of her new album which is set to be released this summer. Her video for "I Really Like You," starring Tom Hanks, will premiere at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT tonight on BravoTV.com's The Daily Dish.Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Colbie Caillat Selling Her L.A. Mansion Less Than a Year After Purchasing It

Kurt IswarienkoIt seems like she barely had time to unpack. Colbie Caillat is putting her Los Angeles mansion on the market, less than a year after purchasing it.According to real estate website Trulia, the singer bought the Hidden Hills estate for $6.1 million in August of last year, and is now flipping it for $6.4 million. The 8,400-square-foot Mediterranean-style home boasts six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and is mostly spread out over one level. There’s a private courtyard entry and a spacious backyard with a pool, an oversized spa, an outdoor kitchen and a 52-inch gas grill. Colbie apparently didn’t make a ton of the changes to the pad. Trulia reports that most of the modifications were cosmetic, like making the home’s media room into a comfortable couch-filled hangout, and adding some color to the interior’s neutral palette.Other famous residents within the Hidden Hills gated community include Jessica Simpson and her hubby Eric Johnson, and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Jennifer Lopez recently sold her own Hidden Hills property for $17 million.Colbie previously own a home in California's Westlake Village, but she sold it last summer.Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Kelly Clarkson Admits Dating Justin Guarini, Clarifies Past "Pitchy Strippers" R

Charles Sykes/BravoMaybe the reason Kelly Clarkson has such bad memories of her contractual obligation movie, From Justin to Kelly, is because it reminds her that her and the curly-haired American Idol season one runner-up used to be romantically involved.Appearing on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live Thursday night, Kelly and host Andy Cohen played a game of "Plead the Fifth," where Cohen asked her a series of potentially uncomfortable questions and gave her the opportunity to "plead the Fifth" and not answer.  One of the questions was about Kelly's relationship with Justin, who's said publicly that they had a fling.  So what's the real story?"We didn't date during Idol, [but] we did date," Kelly admitted. "I feel like we weren't dating through the movie...we did date a little bit. I think any two people who were thrown together that much... guy, girl, you put on 'Timeless,' that song from From Justin to Kelly...you can't fight it!"Cohen also asked Kelly who did a better job singing songs from The Sound of Music: Carrie Underwood, during the live NBC version of the musical, or Lady Gaga during the Oscars?  Kelly said they were both different, and she liked both, but she chose Carrie, because her fellow American Idol champ sang the entire thing, whereas Gaga only did a medley.Kelly also denied she was specifically referring to Miley Cyrus during the 2013 Video Music Awards when she tweeted the hashtag "#pitchystrippers" during the telecast."I never said Miley Cyrus!" she insists. "The fact that I tweeted 'pitchy stripper' and people said 'Miley Cyrus' is not my problem.. I'm just saying! I never said Miley Cyrus, my man. Everyone else said Miley Cyrus. I'm not saying who it was."Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. John Mayer Admits to "Ego Addiction"

ABC/Randy HolmesThese days, John Mayer doesn't run his mouth about whomever he happens to be dating -- right now, it appears to be Katy Perry -- but that's because he learned his lesson when he got in trouble for doing it before. In an interview with Ronan Farrow that will air Saturday on MSNBC, and which was excerpted on NBC's Today on Friday, John spoke about his tendency to over-share in the press about his relationships with the likes of Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.  "I went, 'All right, dude, you did a couple interviews where you were out of touch and you were being a ham -- and you were basically break dancing into a nitroglycerin plant, right?'" John told Farrow. After realizing his reputation as a womanizer was overshadowing his music, John says he knew he had to stop, and that's when he also decided to swear off social media.  Both of those things, he realized, had to do with his ego."I'm a recovered ego addict, and the only way that I can be sure that I don't relapse is to admit that I constantly have this ego addiction -- every day," he explained.John says he can look back now and realize that his behavior is less than stellar.  He tells Farrow that if he met his younger self today, he'd think, "That guy's really, really talented, but I don't want to be anywhere near him when that thing goes off!"More of John's interview with Farrow will air Saturday at 12 p.m. on MSNBC.Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Hozier Says Sex Symbol Status Is "Strange to Me, but in a Nice Way"

Credit: Alex LakeHozier's received critical acclaim for his Grammy-nominated hit "Take Me to Church," but he also has gotten plenty of acclaim from fans who think he's, well, hot.  The long-haired Irish singer says he doesn't mind being a sex symbol, but he thinks it's kind of weird.Speaking to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hozier says of his newfound status as a heartthrob, "I didn’t view that as something that would be part of my career. I wasn’t that person in high school growing up, so [the attention] is very strange to me -- but in a nice way.” That's not the only thing that the singer, born Andrew Hozier-Byrne, thinks is odd.  The very fact that he's famous is something he's not entirely comfortable with, even after having performed on the Grammy Awards and selling out shows all across the U.S.  “Flattering, but strange -- and a little jarring” is how he describes all the attention. At this point, Hozier wants people to know he's more than the "Take Me to Church Guy," and that's what he's currently doing on his American tour, which stops at New York City's Beacon Theater on Friday.  The singer also says he's started thinking about what he calls "the landscape" of what will be the follow-up to his self-titled debut, telling the paper, "I’m really looking forward to [it]...I can’t wait, to be honest.”Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Madonna Admires Joan of Arc, Says She's "Ready to Fight" Against Discrimination

Mert Alas & Marcus PiggotMadonna and Joan of Arc may have more in common than you think. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Madonna talks about the song on her upcoming album named after the historical figure and reflects on what she would be willing to die for.“I've always been drawn to her story,” the singer says of Joan of Arc, the Catholic saint and French nationalist who was burned at the stake by the British in 1431. “More than anything, drawn to her commitment to what she believed in. In the face of death, she did not back down. And that is a theme that resonates with me. And women need female role models like that.”In the lyrics of the song, however, Madonna admits she may not be ready to lay down her life like Joan did. “Meaning, I'm not ready to be burned at the stake,” she says. “Not yet. That does really require an elevated soul, you know? When you are really, really ready to die for what you believe in.”There is one thing she’d sacrifice herself for, though.  “I would die for my children. For sure,” the mother of four says.Discrimination against women is another thing she feels strongly about, citing the case of Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner who was shot by a Taliban gunman for for advocating education for girls. "That really makes me want to start a war," Madonna tells Rolling Stone. "The idea that a girl can't have an education is unspeakable, to me. But all forms of discrimination drive me crazy.”“I felt like we were really going backwards, humanity was going backwards,” she says of things she's seen around the world lately. "There's a lot of causes that get me going and that make me think, you know, ‘Let's go. I'm ready to fight for all these people, for all people who are discriminated against for their religion that they choose, their sexual preference.’”She adds, “I feel personally wounded by it, and I feel like it's my job as a human being, as an artist, as a mother, as a woman, to fight for all these people.”Madonna’s cover story with Rolling Stone is on stands now. Her album, Rebel Heart, arrives March 10.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. "American Idol" Recap: The Top Eight Girls Perform

FOXThursday’s edition of American Idol featured host Ryan Seacrest revealing which eight girls would get the chance to sing once again for America’s vote to secure a spot as a top finalist. The top eight girls, as decided by America’s vote, are Tyanna Jones, Loren Lott, Maddie Walker, Joey Cook, Sarina-Joi Crowe, Adanna Duru, Jax and Alexis Gomez. It was the end of the line for Lovey James, Katherine Winston, Shannon Berthiaume and Shi Scott. The top eight guys were revealed Wednesday night. The show returns to Los Angeles next week, where the top 12 guys and girls will be revealed.Aretha Franklin, who performed on Wednesday’s show, took some time out during Thursday's program to give the contestants helpful advice. She also cheered them on by declaring, “Fifty years ago, myself, Smokey Robinson, Diana [Ross], and Gladys [Knight], we all met the challenge, and you guys can meet the challenge too.”The top eight girls took the stage at The Fillmore Detroit Theater in the Motor City and performed classic Motown songs for judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr., as well as America’s votes. The first girl called up to the stage was 16-year-old Tyanna Jones, who sang the classic pop hit “Rockin’ Robin.” Keith thought it was a perfect song choice that played to all of Tyanna’s vocal strengths. Jennifer said Tyanna's performance gave her a “throwback vibe,” reminding her of those legendary Motown performers. The only question Harry had for the teen dynamo was, “What can’t you sing?”Next up was San Diego's Loren Lott, who tackled Michael Jackson’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are.” Lopez said Lott made her smile, noting the strong vocals and strong performance. Connick thought Lott raised the bar for the other singers.Maddie Walker was the next name called and the 17-year-old student sang The Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be there.” Harry said the performance erased any doubt she belonged in the competition, but she needed to work on her pitch and dynamics. Keith thought Maddie made some great choices when it came to adding her own touches to the song. Keith had noticed that Maddie was nervous and told her she could calm herself by thinking about the lyrics and forgetting about the execution. Jennifer also felt Maddie was visibly nervous, but thought the teen demonstrated great control in spite of that.New Orleans street musician Joey Cook delivered a jazzed up version of The Miracles’ “Shop Around.” Keith complimented the singer on taking the song and making it her own. Jennifer enjoyed the way Cook, who was visibly excited, wasn’t afraid to let her emotions show and use them throughout the performance. Harry loved Joey’s “artistry,” but feared people might tire of her “highly stylized” sound.Sarina-Joi Crowe performed a stripped down, torchy version of another Miracles’ classic, “You've Really Got a Hold on Me,” backed only by a guitar. J-Lo declared Crowe was “probably one of the best singers” in the competition. Lopez said she was happy to see the singer make it this far in the competition after three unsuccessful attempts. Connick called Sarina-Joi’s arrangement of the song “a smart choice,” but urged her to work on her intonation. Urban was impressed with the way Crowe stayed focused when the audience reacted to her hitting a big note.Seacrest then revealed that Adanna Duru was among the top eight girls.  She gave a dramatic version Lionel Richie’s “Hello” that earned an "A- plus" from Harry for lyrical interpretation. Harry did note that her pitch was a little off. Keith thought there were points when Adanna “owned the song” and he wanted to see her do it more often in the future. Jennifer said she liked the performance, but didn’t love it.Jax delivered a sultry version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Urban praised her “strong artistry” and “gritty” voice. Lopez agreed, but thought Jax took too many liberties with the song. Connick agreed, calling the arrangement “dull.”The final lady advancing was Alexis Gomez, who tackled The Four Tops’ “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honeybunch).” Jennifer, noting how she’s not as fussy about pitch as her fellow judges, thought the song was so “out of key” it even bothered her. Harry agreed and said Gomez also needed to keep her emotions from getting the better of her. He urged her to just “settle down and do [her] thing.” Keith was also disappointed with the performance, blaming it on a poor song choice.American Idol continues Wednesday on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Annie Lennox: "I Don't Belong in the Music Industry"

Monty Brinton/CBSAnnie Lennox's most recent album, Nostalgia, debuted in the top 10 and was nominated for a Grammy, and then she had one of the most talked-about performances on the Grammy Awards telecast. That's why it's odd to hear that she feels she "doesn't belong" in the music industry at all.Nostalgia is a collection of standards which Annie didn't write, and speaking to Vogue magazine, she says she "doubts" she'll ever write any original music again. Why?  Because, she says, "For decades, I had a need to express something inside me that was dark, that needed to be brought out...And I don’t want to be unhappy forever. I’d rather be more content than unhappy. [The songs] didn’t all come from unhappiness, but there was always that little twist."Annie said as much to ABC Radio not long ago, when she revealed that she'd rather be in a happy place in her life -- which is where she is now -- than be miserable, just so she could have stuff to write about."I think if it came down to lack of happiness versus lots of success, I think I’d rather be happy, really," she told ABC Radio. "I mean, I'm talking about a place in one’s life where you feel solid and not coming from a place of, you know, trauma or disturbance, basically....of course, many creative artists have been inspired by the dark side, the shadow self, and I certainly would put my hands up and admit to that.""I am at a very beautiful stage in my life, my personal life, and I’m so grateful for it that. Yeah, I don’t mind if I never write another song again," she added. "It’s true." But if she stopped writing songs, what would she do with herself?  Annie tells Vogue, "I don’t know. I don’t belong anywhere. I don’t belong in the music industry. I’m an outsider.""There’s the Annie Lennox persona, but I’m just a person," she adds. "I am passionate about many, many things. I’m incredibly committed to campaigning for women’s rights. I’m a mother. I read. I walk. I cook. I do a lot of things."You can catch Annie performing songs from Nostalgia live -- including her big Grammy number "I Put a Spell on You"  -- on the PBS special Annie Lennox: Nostalgia Live in Concert, which starts airing on PBS stations around the country on April 3.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. "American Horror Story" Creator Says Lady Gaga's Role Was Teased Last Fall with

Inez and VinoodhEven if you're an obsessive American Horror Story fan -- or an obsessive Lady Gaga fan, for that matter -- you probably wouldn't have been able to pick up on the clue the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, inserted into an October episode to let people know that Mother Monster was joining the cast.Entertainment Weekly reports Gaga and Murphy had been in talks since last fall about her role on the show, but it was all top secret.  However, on the October 29 episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show, there was a close-up shot of a paper coffee cup with a picture of a top hat on it.  At the time, Murphy told EW, "That is a big season 5 clue! It’s an arcane clue, but it’s very purposeful, and it illuminates something that you’ll be like, ‘Oh! You dirty bastard!’”Turns out that was the "clue" that Murphy says should have tipped viewers off that Gaga was coming.  Why?  There's a 1935 movie called Top Hat, and one of the famous songs written for that movie was "Cheek to Cheek" -- which, of course, is the the name and title track of Gaga's album with Tony Bennett, which came out last September.Murphy also meant for the Top Hat reference to telegraph the news that the new series of American Horror Story will be set in a hotel, because that's also where Top Hat is set.  If you didn't manage to pick up on any of this, you're probably in good company.Speaking of Cheek to Cheek, in other Gaga news, she and Tony Bennett have booked two concerts at the Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas on April 10 and 11.  It's a return to Sin City for the duo, who started their joint tour in Vegas over New Year's Eve.Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Rixton Says Debut Album "Let the Road" "Shows Off Everything that We're About"

School Boy/Giant Little Man/Mad Love/Interscope RecordsRixton's song "Me and My Broken Heart" was a hit last year, but it's only this week that the British band's debut album, Let the Road, is hitting stores.  While they say it's been nice for them to have been able to lay the groundwork for the album's release, they're relieved it's finally in fans' hands."We were ready [for it to come out] six years ago when we first formed," says lead singer Jake Roche of the album's delayed release. "So it feels great now. And y'know, you have to have that momentum and that snowball effect, if you will....so it feels ready and it feels right."While anyone who's seen Rixton live over the past year has already heard many of the album's songs, Let the Road serves as a good introduction for those who are only familiar with "Me and My Broken Heart" and its follow-up singles."I think it’s quite versatile," drummer Lewi Morgan tells ABC Radio of the album. "I gets across all our musicality, and vocally, we focus very heavily on vocals, y'know, we’re all about harmonies. So I think it very much shows off everything that we’re about."As for the album's title, it takes its name from a harmony-heavy song that Jake and bass player Danny Wilkin wrote six years ago called "Let the Road."  So why was it the right title to sum up the album? "Well the main thing that we’re all about is family," Danny explains. "We all love our families and that song is, 'No matter where the road takes you, you can always follow it back home to where you belong.' So I think it gets across exactly what is important to us four, and hopefully everyone else feels the same way."  Rixton is currently on the road opening for Ariana Grande.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. We owe it to our children to protect our planet and their futures.” “Our generation has the power to build a better world,” added Mary J. Blige. “On April 18th, we will come together for a day of music, education, and action as we call on world leaders to build a world free from poverty and climate injustice.”Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Shania Twain Says Rock This Country Tour Will Let Her Feel the "Party Vibe" One

Sandbox EntertainmentShania Twain delighted -- and, possibly, saddened -- fans Wednesday with her announcement that she'll be going on tour for the first time in 11 years, but it'll be her last time on the road.  Shania says for her final live experience, she wanted to take her music directly to the fans."I thought, 'Well, I’m feeling the momentum of being on stage,'" she tells ABC Radio, explaining why she decided to launch a tour after SHANIA: Still the One wrapped up at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. "'It took me so long to get back up here. I wanna experience also getting back out on the road and touring with the show.' I didn’t want one room to be my last concert experience.""I wanted to break that chain and say, 'If I’m gonna do this for the last time, I want it to be out on the road and taking it to the fans and feeling that whole excitement of the party vibe that you get when you’re on a concert stage.' So...it was just a natural succession."Shania's tour doesn't start until June, but if you want to get a taste of her performing live, you can check out her new CD/DVD, SHANIA: Still the One Live from Vegas, which is currently available exclusively at Wal-Mart.  The show features her full Las Vegas production, as well as plenty of behind-the-scenes footage showing what went into its creation and execution."At the end of [the] Vegas [show], I started to feel a little bit sad to see it coming to an end," Shania tells ABC Radio, explaining why she wanted to release a film of the show. "So I wanted to document that specific production. I put so much into the production itself, it was really a huge experience in that regard, and I was saying, 'Well, the only way to really make it last is to document it, get it filmed.' So I have that, now, forever. That’s, I guess, mine...forever, even though I’m not there live."  Shania's Rock This Country tour starts June 5 in Seattle.  The ticket sales to the general public for most North American shows begin Friday, March 13; there's a pre-sale at ShaniaTwain.com on March 10.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. "American Idol" Recap: The Top Eight Guys Are Revealed

FOXWednesday’s edition of American Idol featured the season’s first live show, with host Ryan Seacrest revealing which eight guys would get the chance to sing once again for America’s vote to secure a spot as a top finalist. The top eight guys, as decided by America’s vote, are Daniel Seavey, Mark Andrews, Rayvon Owen, Adam Ezegelian, Clark Beckham, Nick Fradiani, Qaasim Middleton and Quentin Alexander. It was the end of the line for Riley Bria, Trevor Douglas, Savion Wright and Michael Simeon. The top eight girls will be revealed Thursday night. The top eight guys took the stage at The Fillmore Detroit Theater in the Motor City and performed classic Motown songs for judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr., as well as America’s votes.Aretha Franklin opened the show with a performance of “I Will Survive.”The first performer of the night was 15-year-old Daniel Seavey, who sang Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You).” Keith loved the performance, declaring, “For me, all you need is to just keep doing this.” Keith, however, did urge Seavey to play around with the melodies a little more. Jennifer was also pleased with the performance, overall, but thought the key was a little low for Seavey. Harry didn’t think Seavey was “singing and swingin’ hard enough,” and said the teen needed to feel the beat a little more.Mark Andrews was the next artist called to the stage. He tackled The Temptations’ “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.” The performance felt a little flat for Lopez, who said she didn’t “connect” with it. Connick loved what he called Andrews’ “jam band” arrangement, but wondered how far he would go in the competition if he did too many of them. The next act up on the stage was Rayvon Owen, who followed with another Temptations song, “My Girl.” Harry complimented Owen on the performance, as well as his stage presence, but wanted to see other sides of Rayvon’s personality in the future. J-Lo praised the singer for making the song his own.Adam Ezegelian sang “I Want You Back,” by the Jackson 5. Urban thought it was a great song choice.  Jennifer also thought Ezegelian did an amazing job on the song. Harry declared the singer’s voice was his most “dangerous” talent, noting he was able to tackle a lot of really high notes and nail every one of them. The next name announced was Clark Beckham, who took on Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “The Tracks of My Tears.” The audience enjoyed it, as well as Lopez, who declared Beckham had one of the best voices in the competition. She did, however, pass on some advice Aretha Franklin gave her about singing live, noting Clark should “not think so much” and just “let loose and feel” the song. Connick thought the performance showcased all of the strategic things an Idol performance needs, including a lot of high notes, but it lacked “a beginning a middle and an end.” Urban would have liked to see Beckham ditch the band and deliver a more stripped down performance.Nick Fradiani tackled Stevie Wonders’ “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” Connick thought it was a great arrangement and performance, showcasing Fradiani’s guitar-playing skills, as well as his vocals, but urged Nick to smile a little more. Urban didn’t think the singer looked comfortable playing the guitar, noting it seemed to prevent him from moving around the stage.Qaasim Middleton followed with Wonder’s “I Wish,” complete with some flashy dance moves. Keith said when Middleton gets in front of an audience he "just explodes." Jennifer also thought Middleton owned the stage, but warned him not to forget the vocal aspect of his performance. Harry declared, “That’s what we’re looking for.”The last act to sing for America’s vote was Quentin Alexander, who had the audience and judges bopping to yet another Stevie Wonder tune, “Master Blaster (Jammin’).” After gushing, “I’m glad you’re here,” Lopez called Alexander’s performance “easy and smooth” and declared him one of her favorites in the competition. Connick said Quentin “settled into the groove” of the song, but noticed a little reservation during the performance, chalking it up to Alexander being “freaked out because [he] was the last guy to get put through.”  Urban praised the performance and said Quentin knows who he is and what songs suit him.American Idol continues Thursday on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio.
