"EW" Predicts Sam Smith Will Be King of the Grammys

Image Group LA/ABCWho'll be taking home the gold on Grammy Night, February 8?  According to Entertainment Weekly, Sam Smith has three of the top four categories all locked up.EW predicts that Sam, who's up for six Grammys in all this year, will win Album of the Year for his debut, In the Lonely Hour, and will also take home the trophy for Best New Artist.  In addition, the mag says Sam will win Record of the Year for "Stay with Me."  The only top category he'll miss out on, the magazine claims, is Song of the Year, which Taylor Swift will win for "Shake It Off."The magazine also predicts that one category Sam will lose is Best Pop Vocal Album, which will go, it says, to Katy Perry's PRISM.Now, those are the magazine's predictions for who will win.  As for who should win, that's a different story.  EW says Beyonce deserves to take home Album of the Year for her self-titled "surprise" album; Sia should win Record of the Year for "Chandelier," and Hozier should win Song of the Year for "Take Me to Church."EW also polled three industry professionals anonymously -- a top songwriter, a hitmaking producer and an artist -- to ask who they're voting for this year.  None of them agree across the board in any of the top four categories, though all three admit that they're voting for Sam Smith at least once, in at least one of the top categories. The Grammys air February 8 on CBS.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Taylor Swift Breaks the Internet...by Showing Her Belly Button

ABC/Lou RoccoLast year, Taylor Swift made headlines by telling Lucky magazine that she prefers high-waisted bathing suits and trousers because, quote, "I don’t like showing my belly button...I want that to be a mystery."  Well, now the mystery has been revealed, and people can't stop talking about it.Taylor is in Hawaii with the three sisters from the Grammy-nominated band HAIM, and on her Instagram, she posted a photo captioned, "Greetings from Maui," which showed all four women posing in bathing suits.  Notably, Taylor was wearing a somewhat skimpy bikini that clearly showed her belly button -- it's an "innie," by the way.  Predictably, fans went crazy, reposting the photo and commenting on Taylor's big reveal."That moment when you die bc of taylor swift's belly button," tweeted one fan.  Another tweeted, "omg @taylorswift13 finally revealed her belly button #nomoremystery."Perhaps in reaction to the commotion, Taylor later posted a photo of herself wearing one of her usual retro-style one-piece suits.  She captioned the photo, "She's always wearing, like, a 1950's bathing suit."  That's a reference to the Saturday Night Live parody ad from last year, "Swiftamine," about a medication for adults who get dizzy and disoriented when they realize they like Taylor Swift's music. In the parody, a doctor is shown explaining, "Taylor Swift onset vertigo occurs when one of her songs forces your brain to fight your ears. Your frontal lobe says, 'Oof. Taylor Swift. She's always wearing, like, a 1950's-style bathing suit.'  But your ears say, 'Shut up. This is a perfect song.'" Taylor later said in an interview that she loved that line the best. It's worth noting that Taylor has shown her belly button before.  In 2012, she was photographed emerging from the ocean in a black-and-white bikini, and her belly button was on display for all to see.  That's why it was odd that she told Lucky in November, "As far as anyone knows based on my public appearances, they haven’t seen evidence of a belly button."While in Hawaii, Taylor did other things besides showing her belly button, by the way: she went whale watching and hiking as well. Super Bowl Prop Bets: Katy Perry's Hair Color, Idina's Memory & More

While there will be plenty of money changing hands over whether the Patriots or the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl February 1, there are also a lot of crazy bets going on on the side that have nothing to do with the actual game.  These are called "proposition," or "prop" bets, and some of the more amusing ones have to do with your Super Bowl musical performers: halftime headliner Katy Perry and national anthem singer Idina Menzel. At the website MyTopSportsBooks.com, you can bet on everything from what color hair Katy will have during her performance, to whether or not Idina's name will be mispronounced when they introduced her.  As long as it's not John Travolta doing the announcing, she should be safe: the odds on that are only 33/1. Here's a list of the prop bets currently being offered around Katy and Idina's performances:Odds on a halftime show wardrobe malfunction: 22/1Over/Under on number of Katy Perry wardrobe changes: 2.5Odds on Katy Perry’s hair color:-Brunette: 1/2-Purple/blue: 5/1-Redhead: 10/1-Blonde: 12/1Odds on Katy Perry wearing a whipped cream bikini: 18/1Over/Under on the number of halftime guest stars: 2.5Odds the PA announcer mispronounces “Idina Menzel”: 33/1Odds that Idina Menzel forgets the words to the national anthem: 50/1Over/Under on the length of the national anthem: 122.5 secondsFollow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. "The unexpected, lots of excitement, lots of outfit changes, which is very difficult to do with basically this kind of set-up," he said. And, of course, he added the costumes will involve plenty of color. Jeremy, who’s been working with Katy for a long time, said he thinks people will be surprised by her performance and that it would be an “iconic” moment for her.Hopefully it won’t be memorable for any kind of Janet Jackson-style wardrobe malfunctions. Lady Gaga Contributes Diane Warren-Penned Song to New Documentary "The Hunting G

ABC/Rick Powell)Not long ago, a photo popped up online of Lady Gaga in the studio with hitmaking songwriter Diane Warren, who's created smashes for Celine Dion, Toni Braxton, Aerosmith and many more artists.  Now we know what the two were doing together: recording a song for a new documentary that's premiering Friday at the Sundance Festival."Recorded a song w/ amazing @Diane_Warren for very important doc #TheHuntingGround that premieres at Sundance today! Congrats 2 all involved!" Gaga tweeted on Friday, adding, "The film documents the lives of young people affected by rape. Our song is called 'Till It Happens To You.'"The Sundance Festival website describes The Hunting Ground as a "piercing, monumental exposé of rape culture on campuses, poised to light a fire under a national debate."  What's revealed, say the filmmakers, is a "system of institutional cover-ups, rationalizations, victim-blaming and denial that creates perfect storm conditions for predators to prey with impunity."  The film also focuses on undergraduate rape survivors who are fighting back.Diane Warren is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for "Grateful," a song she wrote for the movie Beyond the Lights which is performed by Rita Ora. Sam Smith Hints He Split from Boyfriend

Derrick SantiniIs Sam Smith back in the lonely hour, so to speak? The 22-year-old singer recently hinted on stage that his romance with boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel is over.Right before launching into his song “Good Thing” in Toronto Tuesday night, Sam told his audience about the ex that inspired the song, and how history seemed to be repeating itself. "When I fell in love with the person who inspired the majority of this record, I had this fight in me to basically end it when I could've carried on," he said. "But I decided to write this song, and, the day before I wrote this song, I basically went on my phone, and I deleted their number and I deleted everything."He then added, seemingly in reference to Jonathan: "The reason why this song is very special for me today is that I've actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I've been seeing."The chorus of the song says: "Too much of a good thing won't be good for long/Although you made my heart sing, to stay with you would be wrong/Too much of a good thing won't be good anymore/Watch where I tread before I fall." Based on the lyrics, it sounds like the couple's whirlwind relationship may have soured quickly. After the Toronto show, Sam further fueled rumors of a break-up when he posted an Instagram photo of himself holding a glass of red wine while making a sad face. "Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell," he captioned the pic. "It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day."Sam and Jonathan had been dating less than a month, and during that time they took an Australian vacation together.Follow @ABCNewsRadio!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Is Adele Working on New James Bond Theme?

LaurenDukoff/Columbia RecordsAs we continue to await the release of Adele's next album, she may be preparing to record a new James Bond theme.Reportedly, the singer -- who won an Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy for "Skyfall," her musical contribution to the 2012 Bond movie of the same name -- was flown to California by the MGM studio to explore a potential follow-up song for the next 007 flick, Spectre.Britain's Mirror cites an unnamed source at MGM who says, “Everyone thinks Adele is here for her much anticipated new album, but she is actually working on a music idea for the James Bond film.""The execs made their feelings known to Adele that they want her back for the next film. They’ll still have to decide whether they want the tune once it’s recorded,” the insider adds.James Bond star Daniel Craig reportedly asked Adele to return for the new film, which will be released in November. If true, Adele would be the first artist to record multiple Bond themes since Shirley Bassey performed songs for Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.Regardless, the part about Adele being in America is apparently true.  Lady Gaga posted a selfie to her Instagram account early Thursday morning that shows her and Adele hanging together.  "Nothing like a Wednesday night bro-down with the beautiful Adele," Gaga writes in the caption. ?Nothing like a Wednesday night bro-down with the beautiful Adele. Meghan Trainor Says She's Saving Her Booty for a Boy

Brooke NiparMeghan Trainor may be “All About That Bass,” but she won’t be showing off that “bass” to just anyone. The singer spoke to the MailOnline about why she refuses to bare her booty in public.“I was told that I started the booty song movement but no one knows what my booty looks like,” she said. “That’s the trick, it’s all about the mystery. I save that for my boy. Well, for whoever gets to date me one day.”She said she made it clear to her label that she would not be wearing skimpy outfits on stage or in her videos. “I don’t like pointing it out, I don’t know why,” she said of her curvaceous assets. “I like to keep that a secret for my future hubby.”Meghan admitted she did wear a form-fitting body suit in the “All About That Bass” video, but said she was “so uncomfortable.”  She doesn’t have a problem with other stars who perform in racy outfits, though. She particularly came to the defense of fellow pop star Ariana Grande.“Everyone gives Ariana Grande crap now for being too sexy, but I think she’s classy with it and if you’ve got it, then rock it,” she said. When she’s not looking for a boy to share her booty with, the 21-year-old is planning her next move in the musical world.“For the next album I want to show my reggae side and I definitely want to have a country hit,” Meghan said. “My dad told me to do every genre and be the best.”Meghan's debut album, Title, just debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Mark Ronson Says "Uptown Funk" Was Months in the Making

Florent Dechard"Uptown Funk," the collaboration between Bruno Mars and super-producer Mark Ronson, is spending a third week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.  While the song sounds like a bunch of buddies just jamming out, Ronson says it took months to actually finish writing and recording it.Mark tapped Bruno for "Uptown Funk" because he'd worked on Bruno's smash album Unorthodox Jukebox, along with another producer, Jeff Bhasker.  In an interview with the BBC, Mark says that he, Bruno and Bhasker came up with "Uptown Funk" together."We were sitting in a studio and Bruno was playing drums, I was playing guitar and Jeff was playing synths, and it just started as a jam," Mark tells the BBC. "Bruno got on the drums and started playing a beat and we just all really loved it, felt good and wrote the first verse. And then it probably took the longest of any song I’ve ever worked on."The reason, Mark says, is because Bruno was on the road promoting Unorthodox Jukebox."It took about six, seven months to finish ‘cause Bruno was on tour and I was sort of chasing him around Canada, North America, England, wherever it was," he says. "Whatever it took to get the song done."There's no doubt that "Uptown Funk" is a throwback: not only does it sound like a soul classic from the '60s or '70s, but it actually features real musicians playing real instruments, not tracks created by a computer.Ronson tells the BBC of the song's success, "It’s great to hear that there’s still a place for live musicianship on the dance floor, you know?"But seeing his song spend a third week at #1, and his album, Uptown Special, debut at #5, aren't the only things that Mark Ronson has going on this week.  "I also wrote the score for this new Johnny Depp film with Ewan McGregor called Mortdecai that’s out this week," he tells the BBC.  The film, which also starts Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Munn and Jeff Goldblum, opens on Friday. And, in the near future, Ronson says, he's "hopefully going back in the studio with Bruno Mars as well, ‘cause he’s getting ready to make his next album."Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. "American Idol" Recap: Season 14 Continues with Auditions in Minneapolis

FOXAmerican Idol's 14th season continued Wednesday night with auditions in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Back behind the judges' table were Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr.During the show, host Ryan Seacrest once again gave Idol fans a chance to decide via an online poll if a contestant would advance or be sent home. This week, they voted to send a contestant named Matt Riehle to Hollywood. Here are some of the highlights from Wednesday's one-hour episode:First up, was St. Paul, Minnesota, native Shannon Bertheaume, a 17-year-old who says she got into music as a form of therapy to get her through the day. She belted out a soulful version of the traditional song, “House of the Rising Sun.” Harry was sold, noting that he responds to people who are “constantly struggling to find the best piece of art they can present at that moment.” Jennifer called her a “crazy artist in the best and most beautiful way.” Keith declared it was “the most raw talent they’d seen.” All three voted “yes” to send Shannon to Hollywood.Kemil Casey, 19, sang Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” into a gold microphone that wasn’t hooked up, but he claimed it helped him and made the audition feel more realistic. It didn’t provide much help for Casey on his Idol audition. Connick called the performance “oddly entertaining,” but voted “no.” Lopez agreed, noting Kemil had a career in show business, but didn’t know if it was “that one.” She voted “no.” Urban added a third “no,” explaining the vocals “weren’t there.” Casey was sent home.Vanessa Andrea got emotional as she talked about her husband Jeremy, who’s currently on active duty in the Air Force, noting he was her “hero.” She recovered quick enough to perform Grand Funk Railroad’s version of “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Urban declared the song was her “jam.” Connick agreed, noting it suited Vanessa to a T. Lopez loved her sound, style and confidence. When Andrea called her husband to tell him how she did on the audition, Keith asked for the phone and one by one, each judge told Jeremy their verdict was a “yes,” and Vanessa scored a golden ticket to Hollywood.Zach Johnson, 20, from Fargo, North Dakota, auditioned with “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” by Keith Whitley. Harry loved his energy and voice, but advised Zach, who sings with a twang, but doesn’t speak with one, that if he didn’t talk with a country accent, he shouldn't sing with one. Connick decided to vote “yes” anyway. Keith also liked Zach enough to vote "yes," and even invited him onstage during one of his concerts a couple of weeks later. Jennifer was on the fence and wanted hear what he sounded like singing, minus the twang. Afterwards, she was sold and agreed with Connick and Urban that Johnson deserved a chance to go to Hollywood.Minnesota native Cindy Jo Scholer, 26, is a pre-K teacher as well as an avid hunter and fisherman. She belted out Patsy Kline’s “Crazy.” Jennifer thought Cindy Jo “lost the melody in an attempt to show off.” She voted “no.” Keith urged her to “lose all the theatrics,” but voted “yes,” noting Scholer had a good voice and could sing. Harry thought the song was more yelled than sung, but said he really liked her voice and voted “yes.” Connick also joked later that he was scared to say “no” to someone who kills bears for sport. Cindy Jo earned a trip to Hollywood for the next round of competition.Jacob Tolliver currently lives in Las Vegas where he's an understudy for the actor who portrays Jerry Lee Lewis in the musical Million Dollar Quartet. He gave an impressive performance as “The Killer” on “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” but the judges thought it was the wrong choice for an Idol audition because they couldn’t determine what kind of artist Tolliver is. When Lopez asked him to sing another song, Jacob chose Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me.” Connick thought this song gave him a “peek into individuality” and voted “yes.” Lopez agreed Jacob has talent and also voted “yes.” It was another “yes” from Urban and Tolliver bagged himself a ticket to Hollywood, as well as a selfie with the panel.Hannah Mrozack is a 16-year-old native of Richfield, Wisconsin, whose version Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold On Me” drew comments like “fantastic” and “amazing” from the judges. Without any need for discussion, all three voted to send her on to Hollywood.Mark Andrew, 29, is a foreman with his family’s landscaping business. He started off singing “Soulshine” by The Allman Brothers Band, until Urban, noting that it was a stylistic tune that was suited to Mark's voice, stopped him and asked if he could hear something a little different. Mark chose “I Want to Be Like You,” originally performed by Louis Prima in the Disney film, The Jungle Book. Jennifer loved the tone of his voice, saying it “cuts through so hard.” She voted “yes,” as did Harry, who declared he wanted to hear Mark on a record. Keith added a third “yes” and Mark was off to Hollywood. The American Idol auditions continue Thursday night at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Fox.Follow @ABCNewsRadio !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Copyright © 2015, ABC Radio. Jennifer Lopez Declares, "There's Worse Movies than 'Gigli' Out There"

Lloyd Bishop/NBCWhen Jennifer Lopez visited NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers Wednesdayto plug her latest movie, The Boy Next Door, she also took the opportunity to clear the air about the 2003 comedy Gigli, which was roundly panned by movie critics. When host Seth Meyers asked the American Idol judge about her favorite movies, the subject of Gigli, in which she co-starred with her then boyfriend, Ben Affleck, came up.While admitting the movie wasn't one of her best, J-Lo didn't think it deserved the beating it took in the media.
